The ultimate pregnancy loss gift guide

By Faith Dulany

If you’re trying to think of what to do for a family member or friend that has just lost their baby st any stage, we’re here to help! We have polled friends, done research and put together the ultimate gift guide to show your care for a loved one. This gift guide is by no means exhaustive, but meant to be a short and sweet list of quality, go-to gifts in a time where nothing fills the brokenness.

Ultimately, you know your loved one best. We always recommend something personal, and something written. Your gifts do not have to have a price tag; if fact, your time and just being by his or her side - willing to not say anything at all - can be the best gift of all.

Here is my ultimate gift guide to care for those who have experienced pregnancy loss!

  1. Write a handwritten card

  2. Care package of food: to be specific, here are some crowd favorites! Stacy’s pita chips, hummus, tea, coffee, breakfast muffins, fruit, ice cream. What are their favorites?

  3. Make a meal

  4. DoorDash or Uber eats gift card

  5. Jewelry from other loss mamas

  6. Birthstone necklace or other jewelry with the baby’s birthday month stone or flower

  7. Locket with a photo of their baby, such as from GLDN or Monica Rich Kosann

  8. Pair of knitted booties

  9. Weighted bear with the baby’s birth weight in mind. You can also do 7 pounds, the average birth weight of a full term child.

  10. Books with the child’s name or birthdate on them written on the spine.

  11. Angel house decor, such as these beauties from Ginger Leigh Designs or Willow Tree

  12. A willow tree piece for dads or moms

  13. House decor with a meaning. Ask the couple what reminds them of their child? A butterfly, bunny, bird, flowers, wind, water, sun?

  14. Cross house decor

  15. Butterfly candle, representing a lost loved one

  16. Flying wish paper

  17. Audrey Bunny book

  18. Perfectly Imperfect Family book
